Donovan B. Yeates, PhD

Dr. Yeates, a cofounder of BioTechPlex Corporation, is responsible for the strategic vision, leadership and management of BioTechPlex. Over the past 20 years he has held several key scientific and management positions, including Senior Research Career Scientist with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Director of the Occupational Health and Safety Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Chief of the Section of Environmental and Occupational Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois. He presently holds the positions of Research Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Bioengineering at the University of Illinois.
Dr. Yeates is an international authority in aerosol delivery to the respiratory system and the subsequent clearance of the deposited aerosols. He has developed a number of novel technologies which have enabled him to make major contributions to the understanding of the mucociliary transport system and airway mucosal function as well as their pharmacological regulation. Dr. Yeates' completed his undergraduate studies in applied physics and M.Sc. in radiation physics. He received his PhD. in medical biophysics from the University of Toronto. He has over 80 peer review publications in top journals as well as several book chapters in authoritative texts. Dr. Yeates is a past president of the Chicago Thoracic Society. He served on the Board of Directors of Illinois Biotechnology Organization (IBIO). He is a member of the American Physiological Society and the American Thoracic Society.
